Alastair Collier Founder - Chief R&D Officer

Alastair constantly surveys the future; scouting for innovation, technologies and partnerships which can accelerate our work. Alastair developed an interest in sustainable solutions during his time at the National Grid where he worked as Head of Engineering Services supporting field engineering operations 24/365 for critical national infrastructure. Through his background, he has a detailed understanding of energy use, requirements, connectivity, and demand which provides him with the expertise, knowledge, and ability to seek out alternative methods and sources of energy.

Born in Canada, having grown up as part of a large agricultural family, Alastair moved to the Cotswolds and studied for his MBA at the University of Oxford. Alastair is passionate about creating change not just for the environment but for people too, spending three years as a Youth Mentor with Oxfordshire County Council as part of the Early Intervention Service. Outside of work, Alastair enjoys rambling in Oxfordshire with his two young boys and wife.

Ian Whitfield Chief Technology Officer

Ian leads a team of innovators, engineers and scientists focused on delivering a climate positive ambition. Ian’s interest in sustainability started early in his engineering career, gaining heightened focus whilst he served on the global ExCom of ENGIE Impact, the sustainability and energy management business. Previously, Ian was CEO of RED Engineering Design.

Ian has remained dedicated to simplifying engineering solutions to reduce their carbon and environmental impact. Born in Oxford, Ian earned his engineering honours degree from Southbank University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

He has dedicated much of his working career mentoring and developing others, a number of whom have become award winners for their work. His weekends are spent outdoors where at all possible, running the line for his son’s football team and cycling to offset eating out with his wife!

Jenny Hughes Business Outcomes Manager

Jenny joined the company from a specialist sustainability company where she worked as a Business Outcomes Manager. Jenny works with our R&D team to build the sustainability case for our carbon solutions looking at their carbon impact, financial impact and wider environmental and social impacts.

Jenny is an operations and finance professional whom has studied how to bring sustainability into business decision making. She has worked in the consulting and food industries. First as a change agent at BCG driving operational excellence and, running her own food business that focused on sustainable operations.

Jenny was born in Ireland where she sits on the board of business encompassing a local historical building and ensures the land ecology is protected and supported through the business strategy. In her spare time Jenny enjoys the natural landscape the West of Ireland has to offer.

Iain Low Operational Excellence Manager

Iain has over 30 years’ experience in process optimisation across Automotive, Aerospace and Defence. His passion is in removing waste from operations and supply chains to ensure that Customers requirements are met with respect to Safety, Quality and Delivery. He thrives on the problem solving opportunities this brings, and the deep level of focus it drives.

Born in Kinver in the West Midlands, Iain studied Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University before doing a post-graduate Diploma at Cranfield University. He currently lives in Somerset, where his spare time is spent renovating his cottage with the help of his Bedlington-Whippet dog, Rufus.

Nick On Chief Operating Officer

Nick is an English qualified lawyer with thirty years’ experience as both principal and lead advisor in a wide range of corporate, commercial, finance and real estate transactions as well as in overseeing regulatory compliance, risk management and corporate governance.

Before joining as Group Legal Officer he was Group General Counsel with a FTSE-250 residential property company for 8 years and in that role he worked on a wide range of initiatives to improve the sustainability and efficiency of that company’s UK-wide portfolio of homes and flats as well as ensuring compliance with all environmental and sustainability legislation and reporting requirements and investor relations.

Although now very happily settled in the North East of England, Nick grew up in the Cotswolds and did his first degree at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford and he takes every opportunity to return to the city and surrounding countryside whether for business or pleasure.

Dr. Sally Wilkinson Senior Research Scientist

Sally’s career as a plant scientist began at Southampton University, when she attained her PhD. As a research scientist, lecturer and manager in the field of crop physiology and sustainable agriculture, she has designed, conducted and overseen projects that have revealed novel aspects of plant biology. She has published over 50 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals, which have been cited more than 4,850 times. In 2010 she was part of the Lancaster University team awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education.

Born in London, Sally moved north to rural Lancashire after her PhD, where she still lives with her two boys. They keep her entertained with their sporting activities, particularly in the local football league. Her hobbies include art, antique hunting, watching her partner restore very old cars, and traipsing around the local woods and beaches with the dog.

Sam Grady Director of Strategy & Business Development

Sam is a commercial strategy professional with experience of driving social impact in both the public and private sector. He has worked primarily in regulated environments; firstly, as an economist at HM Treasury and then as a commercial policy advisor at the Cabinet Office – responsible for the establishment and management of public-private joint venture companies. Most recently Sam has lead business development activity at National Grid where his focus was on designing and delivering sustainable business models.

Sam was born in the UK and currently lives in the West Midlands where he continues to drive social impact in his local area as a school governor. Outside of work Sam is a keen golfer who is on a never-ending quest to break par.

Jérôme Bletterie Technical Delivery Manager

Jerome is a project manager with experience in energy and carbon reduction programs within the pharmaceutical and building industry. He holds a 1st class degree in Mechanical/Energy degree from Galway Mayo institute of Technology, and will complete his master’s in project and programme management from University of Limerick in September 2023.

Latest experience was to create and implement an energy and carbon reduction program which included 9 energy related projects and delivered ISO 50001 certification of a pharmaceutical site. Jerome has also delivered several district heating schemes combined with Biomass boiler projects across the UK. Outside work, Jerome enjoys being outdoors and running up hills in Connemara and swimming along the west coast with his family.

Nina Flashner Climate Change Project Manager
Nina is a project management professional with experience in the automotive and agri-tech industries with a penchant for delivering complex projects to tight timeframes. She holds a masters in mechanical engineering from Sheffield Hallam University.

With previous experience at Jaguar Land Rover, Nina delivered multiple car programmes simultaneously; while her time within agri-tech was focused on research and development. Her experience ranges from clay vehicles and show cars to vertical farming. In her spare time, Nina enjoys sailing, snowboarding, knitting and sewing and walking in the countryside.

Kelsey Woor Climate Change Project Manager - UAE

Kelsey is a seasoned operations professional with varied project management experience in the tech start-up space in London. She specialises in fast paced operations and delivering projects on time and within tight budgets. Originally from South Africa, Kelsey holds a degree in Environmental and Atmospheric Science from her home country and has always remained passionate about sustainability and the environment. Currently residing in the UAE, Kelsey finds joy in yoga, good books and exploring the desert with friends.

Tom Kearney-Mitchell Plant Science Technology Lead

Tom is an experienced biotechnology professional with a varied background in the agriculture and land management spaces. Tom has an international background, from founding agritech start-ups in the Netherlands, through to working in national land management in the UK and Australia. He specialises in tech development and deployment, with these skills supported by his recent qualification as a Six Sigma Black Belt .

Originally from the UK, Tom holds an MSci in Biological Sciences from UCL. Currently residing in Bristol, Tom spends his spare time surfing, hiking and gardening.

Joe Knowles Business Outcomes Manager

Joe is an experienced operations and strategy professional passionate about accelerating the transition to a sustainable future through the deployment of data-led, scalable climate solutions. Prior to joining A Healthier Earth, Joe spent a number of years building and scaling the UK’s largest electric vehicle subscription service. With a background in engineering, Joe has spent time in roles across the consultancy, automotive and start-up environments.

Joe is based in Scotland where he volunteers for the Alliance to Feed the Earth in Disasters and in his free time makes the most of the Scottish outdoors (weather permitting!).
